The Re-reply

well, advanced course mojonics is strongly appreciated...thanks for all that you have done and do, its why I wanted to go to you boys first...

The event will be a ctier and yes, events at patapsco seem to have sucked ball of late....but...with the large field at rockburns rumble, and it being mid summer....and run by the smoothness that is me, hopefully we can inject some hot vigor into the equation, and the tourney will go off great....

Points whores or not, the atttendance does go up w/ pdga sanctioning, so we did so...

Any Sponsorships would be awesome, all must me in by 6/15/07 for proper documentation and advertisement....

Perhaps if team grunt shows...you guys can run the lunch, or a CTP style basket/merch giveaway if we do one....theres always ways to lend a hand....

Pencil in the date, if ya'll can make it, I can put ya to work somewhere that draws from your own mojonics w/o taxing you....

thanks....I'll give a call sometime soon.

The Reply @ 4:09 A.M.EST

Team Grunt and 2 of the Patapsco Putters - 1 non-official, giving 3 people. (all of Team Grunt) Jim, JustYn & Eric would love to help out.
Flymart is a no go as we suck and do not know what the current flight charts are, as I'm sure you do. Are you planning on playing?

Steve we would love to help out as much as possible, but i am living in Fredneck and the other 2/3 of Team Grunt are currently residing in PA.
It doesn't matter, we've been rather proturbed that there hasn't been much interest in the Patapsco tounrneys the last couple of years.
Last year sucked, (weather-wise; the worst to date) It couldn't possibly any worse. As far as course maintenance is concerned, I know for a fact that Team Grunt has many scouts out at P-Tap picking up i'm a dork beer cans and such. Having said that, P-Tap will always hold a special place in my heart, and gettting out there once every 4 months makes me remember why i got into DISC in the 1st place.

We would love to help, but as far as counting cards/flymart is concerned i would say collcetively that we are out on that tip. (you run a great fly-mart) Get the Calvert Shirky Boyce Badger Flyers involved.
I would love to lay down paint and weedwack the park suppoting the tourney layout, and using the weak stash of crush that is left behind the b-ball court possibly redoing a few of the pads Via my truck prior to the tourney.

I will make sure Team Grunt is present and can give any help possible even though only 1/3 are PDGA members.
The Fly-mart is all the Flyers i suppose, and even doing a special edition disc is a lil expensive, not needed, even though last years discs kicked ass. I work for a Sub contract group whom works for Verizon Wireless and could mos def get hole sponsors, at around 25$ per hole.
and that would be pulling teeth. but i could twist some arms.
a few dolars from my company is always possible.
We dont count cards as our math skills are inferior ( we went to school in Carroll County) and we cant even control our discs great enough to run a Fly-mart, not even knowing what our own discs do.

Lemme know If this is PDGA event or not. (doesn't matter to me but i know for a fact that it matters to alot of members would make it even if it was a C tier. Everybody is a points whore as of late. (that is why im not a member of the PDGA)
Hit me back, but i'm sure this is far enough into the year that i can do this as well as the rest of Team Grunt.
thanks for the desperation and even including Tream Grunt in the disc community, though we've been around for a short few.

Patapsco Punisher

Team Grunt in association with Patapsco Putters
and TD Steve Badger, are trying to get help, to run
The Punisher slated for 6/30/07.
This will probably be a PDGA B or C tier.
I was was e-mailed by Badger asking if we could help
out with something. This prolly means moving some baskets
and doing some course cleanup/weedwacking.
I dunno. Still waiting to hear back from him.
Whadda ya think?
This will be in place of the WV tourney.

Rules debate

This is for you Eric, i think we discussed this at one point.
from the MD-DiscGolf.com forum.

here's an often overlooked/misunderstood rule that may save you strokes sometime. it sure did for dr. evil and i (if you can believe it shaved strokes on a circle nineteen).

druid hole twelve's long pin, short tee (the one on the other side of the road with the fast green). the green was a solid sheet of ice, nearly impenetrable with stomping. we slid down it on the second shot and kept sliding to the bottom of the hill after all subsequent shots. hawk and TE finally made there shot and TE had to slide on his ass to get it out and catch himself on the pin. we finally got the disc to stick pin high about 12' to the right. i hit the chains, but wouldn't you guess, it kicked out and went back to the bottom of the hill.

here's the rule-- i said we could take the shot over with a stroke penalty. hawk and dr. evil (both certified officials ) said that only applied if the disc was lost or OB. that's not the case. you can take a stroke penalty and play from the previous lie in ANY situation...

803.06 Unplayable Lie
A. A player may declare his or her lie to be an unplayable lie. The player is the sole judge as to whether the lie is unplayable. The unplayable lie may be relocated to a new lie that is: (1) No closer to the hole, on the line of play and within five meters of the unplayable lie; or (2) The previous lie as evidenced by the marker disc or, if the marker disc has been moved, from an approximate lie as agreed to by the majority of the group or an official. The original throw plus one penalty throw are counted in the player’s score.

not counting this round, as it was impossible to play and you got punished severely for not just throwing at the ground.

This round is under review due to the pending rules discussion on foreign objects being used to aid in a throw, plant foot or putt.

Justyn takes his second 4 of the year on #19 despite losing the match.
we should've counted #19 i guess.
**Also, the only other to take a four on #19 this year is Jim!**
**I may be mistaken but alot of "cage" and chains, and lots of really good looking putts did not drop***

Cubby's Response

Justyn,

It's been a number of years since I last played at Patapsco, I'd love
to play it again soon and get some video. I have not played Rockburn
yet but Big John and I did play and video at Seneca last Spring. One of
Big John's favorite road trips. I have not had the pleasure of playing
PAW PAW yet. Thnaks for the e-mail and please keep in touch.

Cubby

Speaking of Jim Meyers, I had the pleasure of watching him play the
final 9 at the 2000 Worlds when he won his World Championship title in
Michigan back in 2000.

Whipping Post!
Who else cleared it in '06?

Roadtrip?

Brandywine Creek State Park - Still Unforgetable
Brandywine Creek State Park - Still Unforgettable Back in the day disc golfers didn’t talk about Warwick, Paw Paw or Patapsco as the major courses in the MADC Region; mainly because they were still just dreams in Dan, Spencer and Jim Myers heads at that time; no, the granddaddy of them all was Brandywine State Creek Park. Big blasting wide-open fairways through the winds of the rolling hills of the Delaware highlands. No matter where you are on the course there is a gorgeous view of the park and surrounding farms and estates. Few courses (Prompton, Codorus, Tinicum) are as breathtakingly beautiful and just a pleasure to walk as Brandywine. Mike Moser gets his 100th PDGA win at the 2006 Windjammer
by Brian Morris
The 2006 Windjammer is a PDGA “A” tier event held at Brandywine Creek State Park. This year’s event was held on October 28th and 29th. The Windjammer held true to its name with winds anywhere from 25-35 miles per hour and gusts at times up to 50! Very slight rain for about the first 3 or 4 holes did not dampen the event like some had thought (the players who stayed home). In the end, Mike Moser netted his 100th PDGA victory, which made for a nice end to the 2006 tournament season.
The scene looked dreary as competitors arrived at Brandywine Creek State Park on Saturday morning. At 8 a.m. it was raining and the wind was gusting. Players who showed up to make the late registration were optimistic that the weather conditions would improve, and they did, with the exception of the wind.
The first round got started at approximately 9:30 with partly cloudy conditions and occasional wind gusts, but overall the first round was probably the best conditions of the weekend.
At the end of the first round, Mike Moser led the Open division of the tournament, posting a 49 with a player rating of 1064. Markus Kallstrom, formerly of Sweden, but now living in Pennsylvania shot a 52. Local Brian Strojny shot a 53, and Two-time defending champion from New Jersey, Steve Brinster, shot a 54.
The Masters division was led by Jim Myers with a 54, and Joe Mela with a 55. The Advanced division was led by Mike Karp, with a 61, and Stewart Krall, who shot a 63.
The second round finished with Mike Moser shooting a 53, and Markus Kallstrom shooting a 56. Jeff Cahill shot his way into the lead group by posting a 56, and Bobby Cowperthwait posted a respectable 57 to join the lead group for the third round. Jim Myers increased his lead in the Masters division by posting a 56 putting him in driving position for the third round with a several stroke lead.
After the second round, many of the players went to Damon’s where the Delaware Disc Golfers hosted a player’s party that was truly a fun time. Players exchanged stories about their experience in the wind that they faced and watched disc golf videos.
The third round kicked off in less than ideal conditions. The wind was forecasted to blow at 25-35 miles per hour all day with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The course was a true test of both will and ability as players battled it out to place in their respective divisions.
The third round started and Moser was on a mission. He was now leading the field by several strokes and he was focused in the howling conditions. He shot a 57. Kallstrom shot a solid 56 to win the round. Steve Brinster shot a 58 to join the lead group, and Nick Schneider from shot a 61 to get added to the lead card for the final round.
It was mentioned by many players that the fourth round was the windiest and most grueling of the tournament. Moser continued to cruise with a 54. This put Mike in first place with a (-3), and he received $940. Markus Kallstrom shot a 59 to finish in second place (+7), and $650 bucks. Steve Brinster shot a solid 56 to seal a third place (+11) and $470. Nick Schneider placed fourth with a (+19). Locals Brian Strojny and Jamie Brentlinger tied at +22 to tie for 5th. Closing out those pro’s who cashed include Bard Soleng (7th), Bobby Cowperthwait (8th), Steve Johnson and John DeBois tied for 9th.
The Masters division was won by Jim Myers, shooting a (+7) and receiving $450. Joe Mela got 2nd, shooting a +20. They were followed by Wayne Zink in 3rd, Linc Morgan in 4th, Keith Brace in 5th, and rounding it out was local Joe Corradin tying Dean Pfeifer for 6th.
The advanced division was won by Derek Britt. Derek shot a (+40), follwed by John Murphy with a (+42), Tim Reyes with a (+47), and Alan Sweeton at (+50) to round out the top four. Advanced masters was won by Greg Wheeler. Advanced women’s division was won by Kit Bassett.
Lesli Denmark shot a (+65) for the tournament to take the women’s open pro division. Amy Moser shot a (+80) to take 2nd.
When all was said and done and the tournament concluded it was cool and the wind finally stopped. Bill Yerd and Steve Winchester ran another fine tournament. This one, however, will be known forever as the one that fit the tournament’s name because the wind was jamming!
Congratulations to Mike Moser for getting his 100th career PDGA tournament win.
